MY APPROACH
My approach in Orvieto is the same I bring everywhere: pure reportage, no staged poses. I observe, anticipate the moments, shoot.
Orvieto adds something of its own: the Duomo's golden façade lighting up in the last hour of sun, the viewpoints framing the whole city suspended on the tufa.
Many of the couples I follow here come from abroad: Orvieto is one direct train hour from Rome, and one of central Italy's most loved destination spots.

THE TERRITORY
Orvieto offers two weddings in one: the medieval city on the cliff, and the countryside that looks up at it, dotted with farmhouses, vineyards and white roads.
The golden façade of the Duomo is one of Italy's most spectacular backdrops: ceremonies in the old town, portraits in Piazza del Duomo at golden hour, when the mosaics light up and the visitors thin out. Around it: medieval lanes, St. Patrick's Well, the Moro Tower.
The signature image of an Orvieto wedding is taken from outside: the panoramic road circling the rock frames the whole city suspended on the tufa. At sunset, with the sky behind the Duomo, it's pure theatre.
At the foot of the cliff, the ancient Badia looks up at the city from an olive grove: a historic reception venue with a view. All around, the countryside towards Todi and the Tiber is dotted with stone farmhouses and relais.
Twenty minutes away, the "dying city" suspended over the badlands: for couple sessions and elopements it's one of central Italy's most surreal settings.
