«In Assisi the stone changes colour with the light: pink at dawn, gold at sunset.
Photographing a wedding here means chasing that colour all day long.»

Real weddings,
in Assisi

I've photographed weddings in Assisi for Italian and international couples: autumn celebrations at Petrata Castle, couples who crossed Europe to marry in the valley. My Umbrian base in Foligno is 20 minutes away. Browse the portfolio or the gallery.

Photography
that tells,
not poses

My approach in Assisi is the same I bring everywhere: pure reportage, no staged poses. I observe, anticipate the moments, shoot.

Assisi adds something of its own: pink stone that changes colour with the light, lanes that empty at golden hour, a valley that turns to a golden sea at sunset.

Many of the couples I follow here come from abroad: for them, being free to simply live the day is part of the destination wedding experience.

  • Documentary, reportage-driven style — no staged poses
  • Based in Foligno, 20 minutes from Assisi: no travel fees
  • Discreet presence: I blend in with your guests
  • Images that tell a complete story, not a collection of shots
  • Personal post-production on every image, no automatic presets
  • Full English-speaking service, before, during and after
«The most honest photographs are taken when no one was looking at the lens. That's when the real story emerges.»

Where to marry
in Assisi

Assisi concentrates basilicas, castles above the valley, olive groves and open countryside within a few kilometres: four different backdrops for the same wedding day.

The basilicas and the old town

The Basilica of Saint Francis, Santa Chiara, the Cathedral of San Rufino: for religious ceremonies, Assisi has no rival in Umbria. At golden hour the medieval lanes empty out and become a natural set for portraits.

Castles and relais above the valley

Petrata Castle — where I've photographed unforgettable destination weddings — and the other panoramic relais around town host symbolic ceremonies in their gardens and receptions with the whole Umbrian valley at your feet.

Mount Subasio and the countryside

Olive groves on the slopes of Subasio, the Hermitage in the woods, white roads between the fields: ten minutes by car take you from medieval stone to open countryside for your couple portraits.

Santa Maria degli Angeli and the valley

At the foot of the hill, the great basilica with the Porziuncola, and the valley towards Spello and Foligno: estates and farmhouses for green, easy-to-reach receptions.

Frequently asked
questions

Everything couples ask me before choosing their wedding photographer in Assisi.

Have you photographed weddings in Assisi before?
Yes, several: at Petrata Castle and other venues in the area, both Italian weddings and destination weddings for couples from abroad. I know the venues, the light and the best portrait spots in the old town.
What are the best wedding venues in Assisi?
For religious ceremonies: the basilicas and churches of the old town. For receptions: the hilltop castles and relais overlooking the valley, like Petrata Castle, or the estates towards Spello. For portraits: the old-town lanes at golden hour and the olive groves of Subasio.
We live abroad — can you follow us remotely?
Yes, that's standard for destination weddings: first meeting by video call, planning by email, venue visit shortly before the wedding. I speak English and have experience with international and symbolic ceremonies.
When is the best time of year to marry in Assisi?
May to October. Autumn deserves a special mention: the colours over the valley and the low light make October one of the most photogenic months — some of the most beautiful weddings I've photographed here were autumn ones.
What is your photography style?
Documentary. I don't pose you, repeat scenes or ask you to look at the camera. I observe, anticipate and shoot: the images feel found, not built.
How many photos will we receive, and when?
From 150+ to 500+ depending on the package, within 60 working days on average (up to 90 in high season). Every image is individually selected and edited.
We're shy in front of the camera. Is that a problem?
It's the most common thing couples tell me. I don't direct you: I live the day alongside you, and after the first hours you'll forget I'm there.
How far in advance should we book?
For Saturday dates from May to October in Assisi, 12–18 months ahead. Write to me as soon as you have a date.
Do you also film weddings?
Yes: the Platinum package includes a cinematic highlights film with a videographer; available as an add-on with the other packages.
How do booking and payment work?
Free introductory video call, then a contract and a 30% deposit to secure your date. International payments are no problem.

A wedding photographer who knows Assisi

Assisi is one of Italy's most desired wedding destinations — which is exactly why it must be known well: the hours when the lanes empty of visitors, the basilica permissions, the light moving across the pink stone. I work across Umbria from my base in Foligno, 20 minutes away, and have photographed both Italian and international weddings here.

Your destination wedding in Assisi

Couples from abroad choose Assisi for its spirituality, its views and its authenticity. Remote organisation is well-established: video calls, local planners, symbolic ceremonies in castle gardens. From your photographer you need English, local knowledge and the ability to work with international teams — all part of my regular work.

How much does a wedding photographer in Assisi cost?

The cost depends on hours of coverage, a second photographer, the album and extras. Packages start at around €1,300 for an essential service, with no travel fees thanks to my Foligno base. For destination weddings, the quote is defined on a video call, with no obligation.

An autumn wedding in Assisi

October in Assisi is a secret photographers know well: red vineyards, golden light from early afternoon, perfect temperatures for outdoor portraits. If your date is flexible, consider autumn — the Umbrian valley is at its best.

Couple portraits: old town and Subasio

Portraits in Assisi live on contrasts: the medieval lanes at golden hour, then ten minutes by car and you're among the olive groves of Subasio with the valley below. Knowing the right spots — and the hours when the town empties — turns the couple session into a small journey.

Engagement & elopements in Assisi

Beyond weddings, I photograph engagement sessions and elopements: the Hermitage in the woods, the white country roads, the viewpoints over the valley. Intimate formats, much loved by couples on a romantic escape to Umbria.

How to choose your wedding photographer in Assisi

Choosing your photographer is one of the most important wedding decisions. Check that the style matches your vision; ask to see complete portfolios; and book early — Saturday dates in Assisi go before anywhere else. Check my availability for your date.
